Adult-Onset Diabetes (Type II) Natural Remedies

Adult-onset diabetes is a dysfunction of sugar metabolism, contributing to weight gain, high blood pressure, and cholesterol and triglyceride deregulation. The body can no longer utilize sugar (glucose) to feed the cells and the pancreas cannot secrete enough insulin.

From the natural perspective, excessive refined carbohydrates in the diet contribute to insulin resistance, ultimately resulting in endocrine problems affecting the whole body.

As a diabetic, in addition to your medical care, there are natural steps you can take to support your body.  First, consider your overall health. Maintaining a healthy weight and diet are very important.

Choose a low-carbohydrate diet to reduce the need for insulin, giving the body a chance to regenerate with the help of natural supplements.

Cleanse with a gentle herbal cleanse for a week or two. No need for diarrhea or radical flushing. This type of cleansing rids your system of mucus and other toxins that burden the body so your organs function better. I recommend Nature’s Way Mineral Sweep

Exercise. Keeping your body in shape and maintaining it takes time and effort.  Work with your health provider to set up a schedule of regular exercise. Start slowly and work up to a moderate level of exercise 5 days a week. If overweight, you need to develop a plan to lose those extra pounds. Remember, this is a lifestyle change. Losing weight takes the burden off the body’s organs.

Eat fiber-rich foods such as apples and vegetables, especially raw vegetables. These carbohydrates are absorbed slower into the blood stream than processed foods, like white flours, white sugars, sweeteners, and fruit juices. Fiber-rich foods relieve pressure on the pancreas and rest overworked organs.

Eat frequently. Small meals 6 times a day keep blood sugar from spiking. Large meals tend to spike blood sugar. Include brown rice in your daily diet. It is rich in fiber (slowing the absorption of sugars into the blood) and B vitamins that reduce everyday stress.

Use of Artificial Sweeteners. Artificial sweeteners are chemicals that need to be detoxified by the liver. Natural sweeteners such as stevia support the pancreas health. NOW Brand Stevia has some great flavors that help to satisfy sweet cravings

Ask your doctor about these natural supplements to support your body’s ability to better handle blood sugar: GTF Chromium (Brown rice is a good food source for chromium.), Alpha Lipoic Acid which has been shown to reduce blood sugars ans has anti-oxidant effect, and Vanadium, a trace mineral that lowers blood sugar.

Stress Natural Remedies

Stress is the body’s response to unreleased emotional tension, along with the inability to create positive energy. Are you having enough fun? Are you laughing enough to know that most problems are short-term and most everything has a solution? Drama gathers stress and must be drained away with creative endeavors without perfectionism and competition. Aerobic exercise also releases stress, especially when done consistently.

Causes of Stress: logical thinking without another outlet – people that think too much. Medieval authors wrote that thinking too much caused melancholy (depression); Stress often comes from office jobs when a person does not have another creative outlet.

Results of Stress: Affects your self-esteem; takes the fun out of life, makes you too serious; and the following health problems may possibly emerge:

  1. Heart disease
  2. Heart attack
  3. Stroke
  4. High blood pressure
  5. Chronic fatigue
  6. Ulcers
  7. Colitis
  8. Diverticulitis
  9. Insomnia

Organs affected by stress:

  • Endocrine – bodily and organ functions
  • Central nervous system – stress reactions
  • Hypothalamus – brain and body controller
  • Limbic system – emotional center of the brain
  • Pituitary – controls growth
  • Adrenals – energy
  • Pancreas – digestive and insulin
  • Liver – detoxification

Becoming numb to problems can also make them worse as there is little incentive for counseling or other therapies. Modern medicine puts a band aid on symptoms so that a person can “get on with life.” Who needs to actually resolve their problems any way? Doctors prescribe benzodiazepines for anxiety or anti-depressants. The problem is that many people become numb emotionally, lose their sex drive, and some even become suicidal or homicidal. Then there are the issues of dependency, toxicity and other side effects of the medications.

One natural perspective for stress is replacing pent up emotions with loving, creative, non-competitive releases. Do the basics, like choosing a moderate lifestyle where work and play are in balance. It is also sleeping eight hours a night, and enjoying your work and family. It also includes a diet rich in vitamins, nutrients and anti-oxidants. Avoid tobacco, alcoholic, coffee, black tea, soda, and fast food.

Natural supplements for stress include a good B-Complex at 100-200 mg per day for nutritional support. Magnesium and calcium help calm nerves and muscles.

Spotting Natural Remedies

Spotting happens when small amounts of blood escape the vagina between menstrual periods for women between. It is fairly common for girls starting their periods or women going into menopause in their mid-to-late forties.

The cause of spotting is a drop in estrogen levels at the time of ovulation; this is the most common cause that we will be working with here. Snoring is an unacceptable noise when a person is lying down sleeping and occurs most frequently when lying on the back. When the soft palate in the throat closes down, it causes a vibration and the snoring noise. The tissue is too soft; this is one of many theories.
