Skin Tags Natural Remedies

Skin tags, also called acrochordon, are abnormal skin growths that usually occur on the neck or face, but may be found around the armpits, groin or even eyelids. They are considered benign (non cancerous) tumors. Women are found to have skin tags more often then men.

Causes can com from skin rubbing (medical perspective) or even PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome). Some other research suggests insulin resistance (syndrome X). Other natural practitioners consider skin tags may come from allergy shots. Modern medicine treats skin tags by just removing them.

From a natural perspective, skin tags are a sign of something deeper so look for the root cause and help the body to fix itself. If it is insulin resistance issue, and there is a big belly, steps need to be taken to reduce stress and improve the diet (described later). Use chromium for better metabolism. PCOS is a hormonal issue that can create skin tags. See PCOS healing protocol. Allergy shots and other vaccinations in general are thought to alter our immune system and cause tumors, benign and cancerous. See also Allergy healing protocols.

Diet – no smoking, less than 2 alcoholic beverages a week, 1 cup or less of coffee or black tea a day. Use lest than 2 sodas a week. Eat no fast food – eat real food.

From a homeopathic perspective, skin tags manifest the sycotic miasm. Miasms are genetically inherited or grafted disease states. The sycotic miasm is a deeper health imbalance that causes alteration of tissues, usually benign. Skin tags are a sign of worsening state of health.

While physical removal of skin tags helps the appearance, it does not address the underlying cause. Use blood purifying or alterative herbs to help clean up the system. Natural remedies for skin tags should be used for 6 to 12 months.

Herbs for Skin Tags

Herbs are plants valued for their specific strengthening/ tonifying properties.

Use an alterative formula (blood purifying) for 6 to 12 months. Use one capsule of each 3 times a day for optimal results.

Chaparral is a strong alterative (don’t use if you have liver problems). It has been used historically for cancer and is antiviral. Using 1 capsule 3 times a day.

Red clover is a general blood purifier and very safe.

Yellow dock is a mild laxative and system purifier.

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) Natural Remedies

Polycystic ovarian syndrome or PCOS affects 1 in 20 U.S. women of childbearing age and 1 in 10 of menopausal women (according to government statistics). PCOS symptoms include facial acne, facial hair growth, hair loss on the head, loss or irregular periods, low voice, and small breasts. It is often associated with obesity. PCOS may include infertility issues, irritability and blood sugar irregularity (insulin resistance or diabetes). Cholesterol levels may be affected. PCOS can look like many other conditions (obesity, hormonal disturbances, infertility).

Causes of polycystic ovarian syndrome are usually an imbalance of hormones (androgens) which may affect the rest of the endocrine system. Birth control drugs or other medications may contribute to this imbalance.

Modern medicine offers the use of estrogen, or birth control pills to control menstrual cycles. Spirolactone™ or some other drug is used to suppress excess androgen which causes most of the symptoms. These therapies can help symptoms but must be used continuously to suppress symptoms.

Natural perspective is that the endocrine system is out of balance. This includes the HPA axis (Hypothalamus, pituitary, and adrenal). This axis regulates hormones. The adrenals affect cortisol levels, and when out of balance contribute to abdominal obesity and stress. Often times stress contributes to PCOS.

There are natural solutions that I have used over several years with great success. For premenopausal women, it is usually a combination of Vitex, Saw palmetto, homeopathic ACTH, and either Natrum muriaticum or Sepia (see below).

Diet and supplements for PCOS – you must eliminate tobacco, alcohol, coffee, black tea, and processed foods. Also lose weight with exercise and diet control. Natural supplements for polycystic ovarian syndrome include Chromium which helps and regulates adrenals.

Herbs for Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome PCOS

Herbs are plants valued for their specific strengthening/ tonifying properties.

Use a combination of the following herbs for PCOS in capsule or liquid for maximum benefit, and adjust as your condition improves. Therapeutic dose is equal to one capsule of each herb 3 times a day or 1 liquid dropper full of an herbal tincture 3 times a day.

The most important herbs for PCOS are Vitex and Saw palmetto – use these in combination.

Vitex – hormone balance and research suggests that it works on PMS and fertility issues.

Saw palmetto is traditionally used for prostate problems in older men – it reduces androgens in women and improves urinary function.

Other herbs for polycystic ovarian syndrome:

Schizandra is an adaptogen that improves the HPA axis as well as improving liver and respiratory function.

Ashwaganda is also an adaptogen and works similar to Schizandra but also supports thyroid.

Blue vervain is exceptional for those stressed women of executive skills and challenges. Many herbalists use this as their primary herb for menopausal hot flashes.

Hair Loss in Women Natural Remedies

Hair loss in women is usually in the form of androgen alopecia where there is too much testosterone in relation to estrogen. The hair is thinning.

woman-hairlossHair loss in women may be due to a weak thyroid. Sometimes women lose hair after childbirth because they don’t lose hair at the normal rate during pregnancy. But after having a baby, women will seem to lose more hair than average; this will calm down after a short time. If this is not the case, hair loss may be due to PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome). PCOS is excessive androgen causing either excessive hair (Hirsutism) or hair loss. Both may be from the same basic cause.

Medical perspective is to suppress androgens with Spirolactone or other medications and artificial sex hormones. They may even recommend topical hair gain methods which are expensive and must be used continuously or you lose the hair. There is toxicity and many side effects while not treating the cause for real cure.

Natural perspective on hair loss in women is to treat the causes such as hormonal imbalances (excessive androgens, a weak thyroid, not enough nutrition, and even stress). This can be very successful with many benefits (mental, physical, emotional and no toxicity). Take a combination of the herbs, cell salts, and homeopathics for best effect.

Diet and Supplements: Take a high-quality whole food vitamin for extra nutrition. You should have at least 100 grams of protein a day to maintain structural integrity and hair health. Make a smoothie with extra protein each day. Essential fatty acids such as fish oils, olive oil and primrose oil strengthen the structural integrity of the hair roots. Use evening primrose oil at 1300 to 1500 mg a day for skin and hair health (may affect menstrual cycle). Stop smoking, alcohol, coffee black tea, sodas and processed foods.
