Gums recede from teeth exposing them to decay and toothaches. Symptoms may include inflammation, infections or boils. There may be pain associated, or no pain at all. Symptoms may also include boils or cankers and bad breath. Medical treatment includes antibiotics (side effects) and surgery (symptoms may return).
Natural outlook is observing that the gums are related to diet, hygiene, mineral deficiencies and circulatory disorders. Using calcium citrate liquid (1 tablespoon, twice daily) may assist.
Herbs for Receding Gums
Herbs are plants valued for their specific strengthening/ tonifying properties.
Dave’s Heart Formula – combination of hawthorn, mistletoe, horsetail, lemon balm and anise promotes circulation to all parts of the body. 2 caps, 3 times a day for several months.
Chamomile flowers, Sage leaves and Horsetail powder combined into one tea formula. Gargle and swallow several times a day. It will strengthen the connective tissue from an external perspective and internally.
White oak bark powder – tightens up your gums while you sleep. As a paste, use before bedtime between the cheek and gums. It has very little taste and can be swallowed during the night.
Another useful herbal formula would be:
2 parts Hawthorn berry powder provides better circulation
1 part Horsetail powder – strengthens connective tissue
3 parts White oak bark powder tightens the gums and an herbal astringent
2 parts Marshmallow root powder strengthens connective tissue in general
Mix together and steep 1 heaping teaspoon in 8 ounces of boiled water for ten minutes to make a tea (drain herbs), or put dried powdered herbal combination in capsules (taking 2, 3 times a day), or take 1 teaspoon of mixture daily.
