Gingivitis Natural Remedies

Gums are red, swollen, and often bleeding; may be caused from bacteria. Also called trench mouth. Symptoms include boils or cankers and bad breath. Medical treatment uses antibiotics (with side effects).

Natural observation is that the gums are related to diet, hygiene, mineral deficiencies and hormonal disturbances, especially for women during pregnancy.


Herbs for Gingivitis

Herbs are plants valued for their specific strengthening/ tonifying properties.

Choose one or more of the following herbs to use in a mouthwash:

Myrrh tincture – strengthens the gums and kills bacteria

Sage – tightens gums

White oak bark – to tighten gums (tea – boil 10 minutes)

Calendula – use as a tea or tincture to heal tissue, or kill bacteria

Make this herbal formula for gingivitis, or use any of the following singly:

2 parts Nettle leaves – anti-inflammatory and mineral rich
1 part   Red raspberry leaves – rich in minerals, tightens gums
1 part   Sage leaves – healing
1 part   Rosemary leaves – circulation
2 parts White oak bark – to tighten the gums

Mix together and steep 1 heaping teaspoon in 8 ounces of boiled water for ten minutes to make a tea (drain herbs), or put dried powdered herbal combination in capsules (taking 2, 3 times a day), or take 1 teaspoon of mixture daily.

Cell Salts to Help Gingivitis

To make a cell salt solution, put up to 10 tablets of each cell salt in a 16- to 24-ounce bottle; fill with water and swirl to dissolve tablets. Sip throughout the day.

#9 Nat mur 6X – scorbutic, spongy, fistula on gums
#12 Silicea 6X – swelling, boils, sensitive to cold, infections

Gingivitis Homeopathic Remedies

Homeopathic remedies are non-toxic natural medicines safe for everyone including infants and pregnant or nursing women. You may use 6X, 30X, 6C or 30C potencies.

Kreosotum – teeth decay; gingivitis with spongy bleeding gums. Gums puffy, bluish, bleeding, dark and quickly coagulating. Oozing of persistent dark coagulated blood.

Mercurius sol – gums recede, spongy and bleed easily. Gumboils and ulcers on puffy gums. Gums swell every night.

Nat mur – gums spongy and bleed easily. Gum tumors. Dry mouth or excessive saliva. Craves salty foods. Dry lips.

Phosphorus – gums bleed bright red blood easily. Gum inflammation and boils of lower jaw and sore behind central incisors. Boring pains. Worse cold, heat, chewing.

Silicea – gum boils, tendency to infections, sensitive to cold. Generally feels cold. Has weak fingernails.
