Ringworm starts with a reddish circle and proceeds to a dark ring on the skin. It is a fungal infection of the outer layers of the skin. Ringworm is not generally serious unless untreated over a period of time. The appearance of ringworm can be seen on any part of the skin including in beards, hair, scalp, etc. Causes of ringworm may come from public places such as swimming pools, gyms and more.
Medical treatment for ringworm is to kill the fungus externally with antifungal creams as well as toxic antifungal medications used internally.
Naturally, to rid the body of ringworm, we want to reduce the dampness in the body, increase the strength of the immune system and use compatible natural antifungal supplements and creams. Change your diet to improve immune function. Getting rid of tobacco, alcohol, coffee, black tea and sugars will help. Taking fish oil (at least 6000mg a day) will improve the immune system.
Herbs for Ringworm
Herbs are plants valued for their specific strengthening/ tonifying properties.
Externally with ringworm, use the herb in tincture form directly on the skin. It works quite effectively but may darken or stain the skin temporarily.
Internally use anti-fungal herbs for ringworm to get to the root of the problem (dampness and fungus) and remove the cause which helps along with diet change.
Garlic is useful for so many things including fungus, cholesterol, and high blood pressure and improves the immune function.
Neem can be used as oil externally and also works internally. It is also quite drying.
Thyme is also anti-fungal, antibacterial and helps the respiratory system.
Black walnut may be used externally and internally, and may help to normalize blood sugar.
Pau d’arco is a powerful skin agent as well as for the immune system.
