Cystic acne is seen as red hard 4-6 millimeter pustules on the face, back or chest. The pustules may connect and scar. It is often a social problem, linked emotionally to appearance.
Causes of acne are usually attributed to poor dietary habits. It can also be caused or made worse with iodine products (medication or seaweed, kelp, etc) or fluoride products as they tend to irritate the skin, (mostly externally like toothpaste).
One of the main problems with acne is hormonal imbalance which causes excessive androgens (important hormone for development of male characteristics and precursor of estrogen) in both men and women. This brings excessive oil in the skin. For women, and especially those who struggle with facial hair, the main culprit affecting hormonal balance is chemical birth control.
Modern medicine treats acne with antibiotics and anti-bacterial washes, and sometimes even steroids. While somewhat effective, one also takes the side effects of the drugs with long-term usage.
Naturally, to avoid acne, you should improve your diet by staying away from fried and processed foods. Also stay away from iodine and fluoride products and chemical birth control. Dietary concerns: As always, eliminate tobacco, alcohol, coffee, and sodas.
Nutrition for acne includes the dietary supplements of Chromium chromate and Zinc. They have been shown to be helpful in eliminating acne. It takes 6 to 8 weeks with the use of the following selection of remedies to see best results.
