Cholesterol is an important component derived from the liver to feed the cells of the body proper fats. When ratios are wrong, excesses build up on the arterial walls. Poor concentration, dizziness, and breathless in normal exertion are some of the symptoms. The common cause of high cholesterol is a diet high in animal fats, and little or no exercise. High stress levels also play a part.
Modern medicine uses drugs to combat the problem. In the book Natural Alternatives to Lipitor, Zocor, and other Statin Drugs by Jay S. Cohen, the author describes the drugs as “statins” which can damage the liver, create flu-like symptoms and dissolve muscle tissue. Many people have contacted their doctors and have quit their “statin” drugs and have significantly improved their state of well being and are no longer sore and achy, and have more energy.
One client was told by her doctor that she should feel poorly as a result of using statin drugs, and she should get used to feeling bad. Dr. Cohen recommends with diet and exercise, nutrition and a variety of herbal supplements.
Natural solution in helping high cholesterol is to realize cholesterol is controlled by the liver and is a part of liver health. The cells of our body need proper fats for connective tissue health also.
Dr. Dean Ornich says you can reverse high cholesterol with one half hour of therapeutic breathing and another of yoga! Exercising reduces cholesterol 40 to 50 points in as little as 3 to 4 weeks. He also says Americans with a normal diet have an average 220 cholesterol. Vegans average 150 and Chinese that eat a quarter pound of meat (average) a week are at 127. Also, six cloves of garlic or the capsule equivalent per day normalizes cholesterol levels.
Check with your doctor when using natural supplements. Most people get their cholesterol checked every 3 to 6 months to make sure natural treatments remain effective.
