The Insanity of Humanity

This is the final version of a presentation developed over the last few years. It was intended to provide some context for the disparate jigsaw pieces that fit together and tell the story of our symbiotic origins and our post symbiotic descent into delusion and madness.

How Are We Impacting Our Planet?

The impact of human activity on our planet has surpassed all natural and geological forces. What could climate change adaptation look like?

Komodo, The Land of Dragons

The Komodo dragon, also known as the Komodo monitor, is a large species of lizard found in the Indonesian islands of Komodo, Rinca, Flores, Gili Motang, and Padar. It is the largest living species of lizard, growing to a maximum length of 3 metres (10 ft) in rare cases and weighing up to approximately 70 kilograms (150 lb). Recent research suggests the large size of Komodo dragons may be understood as representative of a relict population of very large varanid lizards that once lived across Indonesia and Australia.

Quantum Leap

Quantum mechanics (QM; also known as quantum physics or quantum theory), including quantum field theory, is a fundamental branch of physics concerned with processes involving, for example, atoms and photons.

Our world knows four international crimes: war crimes, genocide, torture and crimes against humanity. Spanish examining magistrate Baltasar Garzón and Scottish lawyer Polly Higgins believe that this list of serious violations of international law should be expanded with a fifth: ecocide.

Regreening The Planet

Regreening the planet looks at the profit that comes from the recovery of ecosystems in Spain, Egypt and India. Restoring ecosystems does not only generate ecological profit but also economic. In Regreening the desert, the makers of VPRO Backlight showed that the greening of deserts is very well possible. They followed the American-Chinese cameraman and ecologist John D. Liu.

Does Thinking Shape Our Reality?

Thanks to our brain we can think about our place in the universe. Are we the only kind that can do that, and do we see the real reality? We can think of what others will think. Can animals do that too? And the reality in which it all plays, does that really exist, or is it a kind of projection? Is scientific knowledge of the world to be combined with the belief in a higher power?
