The animal hair itself is not considered to be a very significant allergen, however, the hair or fur may collect pollen, dust, mold, and other allergens. Although a particular animal may produce more or less allergen, there is no relationship between the pet&#8217;s hair length and allergen production.<\/p>\n<p>These allergies are caused by close proximity to animals and an oversensitive reaction of the immune system. Allergies to animal dander may cause an allergic reaction such as itching and burning eyes, sneezing, mucus discharges, and could progress to the throat closing or difficult breathing.<\/p>\n<p>Modern medicine treats pet dander allergies with decongestants and anti-histamines for symptomatic results; however, they also have side effects.<\/p>\n<p>From the natural perspective, pet dander allergies tend to occur when the immune system is overburdened with unhealthy foods and other allergens.
