H2O: 70% of us. Master it, master yourself
Let’s take a moment to honor this incredible element. Water isn’t just something we drink to quench our thirst; it’s the currency of life itself. The word “currency” comes from “current of the sea” – and what’s the current of the sea? You guessed it: water.
For those of you looking to thrive in abundance, health, and wellness, paying attention to your water is crucial. Understanding what’s in it, how to measure it, and how to optimize it is going to be essential for everything you want to accomplish in your life.
“When you can measure what you are speaking about, and express it in numbers, you know something about it; but when you cannot measure it, when you cannot express it in numbers, your knowledge is of a meager and unsatisfactory kind: it may be the beginning of knowledge, but you have scarcely, in your thoughts, advanced to the stage of science.”

A Water Testing Arsenal
We’ve got quite the setup here in the Spiritech Labs, so I’m excited to share some of the tools we use here with you. But don’t worry if you’re not ready to go full mad scientist just yet – there are some incredibly powerful but affordable options that’ll get you started on your water mastery journey.
The star of the show is this 7-in-1 tester. It’s a game-changer. For around $30-$50, you can measure everything we’re going to talk about today. It’s mind-blowing how accessible this technology has become. I’ve got meters here that cost $500 or more, and they can’t even do half of what this little device can.

Innerstanding Water Measurements
Let’s dive in deeper into the key measurements we’re looking at:
- PPM (Parts Per Million): This is all about measuring the concentration of substances in your water. It tells you how many units of a substance are present for every million units of water.
- pH (Potential of Hydrogen): This measures how acidic or alkaline your water is on a scale of 0 to 14. It’s all about balance, nothing too high or Alkaline or nothing too low, Acidic.
- ORP (Oxidation Reduction Potential): This is where the magic happens. ORP measures the ability of your water to reduce oxidation. Think of it like an anti-aging measurement for your cells. Hydrogen shows it is capable of doing this.
- Conductivity: This is all about how well your water can conduct electricity. It’s a measure of the ions present in the water, and it’s crucial for understanding how your body will interact with it.
Testing the Waters…Literally
I conducted several water tests on a variety of waters live and here are some of the results.
- Tap Water:
- PPM: Around 300
- pH: 6.5 (slightly alkaline)
- ORP: +268 mV (positive, indicating oxidizing potential)
- Conductivity: 111 µS/cm
Analysis: Tap water showed moderate mineral content, was slightly alkaline, and had oxidizing potential. The conductivity indicates the presence of dissolved ions.
- Filtered Water:
- PPM: Lower than tap water
- pH: 8.35 (more alkaline than tap)
- ORP: +192 mV (positive, but lower than tap water)
- Conductivity: A little higher than tap water
Analysis: Filtration reduced mineral content and conductivity while increasing alkalinity. The ORP remained positive but decreased, suggesting less oxidizing potential.
- Distilled Water:
- PPM: 1-2 (extremely low)
- pH: Around 7 (neutral)
- ORP: Similar to tap water
- Conductivity: 8 µS/cm (very low)
Analysis: Distillation removed almost all minerals and ions, resulting in very low PPM and conductivity. The pH was neutral, but the lack of minerals could make it potentially harsh on an empty stomach.
- Hydrogen-Rich Water:
- ORP: -450 mV (significantly negative)
- Other measurements not specifically recorded
Analysis: The negative ORP is the standout feature, indicating strong antioxidant potential. This suggests hydrogen-rich water could help reduce oxidation in the body.
- Shilajit-Infused Water:
- PPM: Increased to 1,500+ (from adding Shilajit)
- Other measurements not specifically mentioned
Analysis: Adding Shilajit dramatically increased the mineral content of the water. The blog emphasizes that these minerals are in a highly bioavailable ionic form.
Additional Insights:
- Surface Tension: While not measured quantitatively in the sessions needs an honorable mention since the importance of low surface tension for better absorption. The Mayu water pitcher is a device that can reduce surface tension through vortexing.
- Advanced Treatments: Techniques like vortexing, light infusion, and sonification, may also alter water structure, though specific measurements for these treatments are coming soon.
The Mineral Dilemma
Remineralization is a crucial aspect of water treatment, especially when dealing with purified water sources like distilled or reverse osmosis water. While these purification methods effectively remove contaminants, they also strip away beneficial minerals. This creates a potential issue: drinking demineralized water can actually leach minerals from your body over time.
To address this, Shilajit, a natural substance rich in over 85 ionic minerals suspended in fulvic acid. When added to water, Shilajit dramatically increases the Parts Per Million (PPM) measurement, indicating a significant boost in mineral content. However, the blog cautions that not all mineral additives are created equal. Many commercial mineral drops, particularly those sourced from Salt Lake City, may contain contaminants or have mineral particles too large for effective absorption by the body. Proper remineralization isn’t just about adding any minerals back into the water, but ensuring they’re in a form that’s bioavailable and beneficial to the body. This process transforms purified distilled water from a potentially mineral-depleting substance into a nutrient-rich, health-promoting beverage that can enhance overall wellbeing and remineralization effectiveness.

The Secret to Soft Water
Here’s something most people overlook: surface tension. It’s what allows those Jesus Christ lizards to run on water. But when it comes to drinking, we want water with low surface tension. That’s where devices like the Mayu water pitcher come in. By creating a vortex, it reduces the surface tension, making the water feel silky smooth and more easily absorbed by your body.
